Each Monday at noon the garden volunteers harvest together and use the produce to make a salad and other ready to eat items for our 1pm garden meeting. You're free to join us anytime, it's a great way to learn about what is edible, what plants look like when they are ready to harvest, easy ways to prepare the food, or just to fill your belly with some healthy snacks.
When we have larger items that have harvest, volunteers often take the produce home and cook it and bring the bounty back to the group. One pumpkin that we harvested was able to become soup and the amazing vegan pumpkin ice cream you see above.
Imagine what would happen if we all had a space to grow nutritious food and that all communities shared nutritious food with those who needed it the most. Join us next Monday if you'd like to share our harvest, perhaps it will inspire genorosity citywide!
